We had the pleasure of being invited to participate in some charity bazaars as well as at the Monthly Gathering of the KPWKM (Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development), hence giving us the opportunity to showcase our food products prepared by the women in our empowerment programs in Kota Kinabalu and Ipoh. It also helped increase awareness of our activities and programs, and our role in protecting women and children in crisis.
The Monthly Assembly of KPWKM was auspiciously held on 25 November, International Day of Prevention of Violence Against Women, and the first day of the worldwide 16 Days of Activism. To mark this special occasion, attendees were given o range t-shirts, food and orange flavored drinks.
Amidst the bustle, we managed to snap a photo with our honourable Deputy PM, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah, who is also Minister of Women, Family and Community Development. Happy smiling faces all around!
We were also invited to set up a booth at two Christmas charity bazaars; organized by the Council of Churches Malaysia (CCM) and Association of British Women in Malaysia (ABWM) respectively.
Amongst the products on sale were pineapple-based jams and chutney, ginger flakes & powder, cultivated by the women of the community affected by the earthquake in Sabah in 2015; biscotti, crunchies and salt fish pickle from our Rose Virginie Good Shepherd Centre in Ipoh; and some beautiful bags and pouches lovingly made by the residents of our shelter.
