What is Domestic Violence?
Physical - an act of violence, abuse of power, use of threats to intimidate a domestic partner
Sexual – use of force or threats to perform unnatural acts, or against the person’s will. Eg, insisting on intercourse during menstruation
Emotional & Psychological – putting the person down by insults, humiliation, namecalling. Verbal abuse leads to psychological and emotional stress.
Social – limiting a partner’s outside interactions, or monitoring their social media
Economical – not allowing a partner to get a job, not giving household allowance, assumes control on decisionmaking
If you are a victim of domestic violence, TELL SOMEONE. Tell a neighbor, teacher, the consulate/embassy. Tell somebody you can trust.What is domestic violence ?
