Established in 1946, CSW is a global intergovernmental body made up of representatives of the UN member states, UN entities and ECOSOC (Economic & Social Council of UN) accredited NGOs from all over the world. CSW is dedicated to pursuing gender equality and empowerment for women. It aims to change the situation of women and girls in the world.
Meeting annually since 1946, discussions revolve around progress and gaps of policies which have been implemented or are in progress, such as the Beijing Declaration and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and address emerging issues on gender equality and empowerment for women. Written and Oral Statements are put forward and lobbied to be included in the UN deliberations. And finally there is the adoption of the Agreed Conclusions.
This year’s 65th edition focuses on women in public life. “Women’s Full and Effective Participation and Decision-making in public life, as well as the Elimination of Violence, for achieving Gender Equality and the Empowerment of all Women and Girls.”

Parallel to the main event is the NGO CSW Forum which facilitates a platform for NGOs and women’s rights organisations globally to convene, engage with each other, share their mission and exchange ideas and information. Typically, it is a lively affair consisting of trade booths, conversation circles, artisan fairs. This year, as is now the new normal, the NGO CSW65 forum is entirely virtual.
Good Shepherds Asia Pacific is proud to be a part of the NGOCSW65 Virtual Forum this year. The various units of Asia Pacific are collaborating to host several panel forums and webinars over the two weeks.

Global Shepherds will present a session on “Online Sexual Exploitation of Children – Realities, Perceptions & Interventions” together with our partners in the Philippines and Nepal. Do join us on 18th and 19th March 2021, 2.30 - 4.30pm MYS.
Participants are required to be registered as advocates in order to attend, but worry not, our sessions will be livestreamed on the GSIF Asia Pacific Youtube channel.
We anticipate the NGOCSW Virtual Forum to be every bit as exciting as if it were held physically. Closed borders has opened up a whole new virtual world, and enabled more people to participate, regardless of where they are in the world!
